Palma de Mallorca to extend transport system

It has been reported in the Majorca Daily Bulletin that many of Mallorca's key towns and holiday destinations will soon be connected to the rail, tram and metro service which is to be expanded as part of the Government's drive to reduce the traffic on the roads.

Work is currently underway to expand the railway network to the north east and east of the island with all services to begin and end at Palma's public transport station in the centre.

The popular tram is going to be returned to the streets of Palma with the multi-million euro project being built in 3 phases.

Phase 1 - From Palma to the airport.
Phase 2 - From Palma through Playa de Palma
Phase 3 - From Palma through to the municipality of Calvia which is home to resorts such as Palma Nova, Magalluf and Santa Ponsa.

In addition to this, Palma is planning on extending the cycle lanes.
