The Canary Island destinations of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Tenerife have proved to be popular for holidays in the coming year.
Easier Travel reports that statistics from OnTheBeach reveal that the three islands are the most popular locations for summer 2010.
Some 42 per cent of the bookings that were made during December were for travel during the summer, meaning that many British people are eager to get away despite the current economic situation.
December 28th was the most popular day for people making bookings on the site, with the number of trips secured on that day rising by more than 35 per cent in comparison with the same day last year.
Alistair Daly, marketing manager of the site, says that the rise in booking was perhaps to do with money-conscious holidaymakers hoping to snap up the best deals.
British people do seem to be optimistic about their travel plans for the coming year, with 55 per cent saying that they plan to go on more holidays in 2010 than they did in 2009.
