People who are looking for something a little different from their holiday to Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, may wish to try a moonlight hike up the island's famed Teide volcano.
Island Connections states that the "impressive" mount is less than an hour away from the popular tourist resorts of Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos, making it accessible for most holidaymakers.
The site advises: "Hiking enthusiasts [can] take full advantage of the spectacular routes through rocks, craters and lava-filled spots that have made the area a sought-after film location".
Hikes in the moonlight "bathe the entire crater in spectacular light", while visitors can experience the eerie silence of the area.
But holidaymakers should not forget their warm clothes as it can get chilly at the summit of the volcano. The site suggests packing a woolly hat, as well as boots and a fleece as a defence against the cool evenings.
Teide is the third largest volcano on earth and is Spain's highest point at 12,200 feet.
