The Canary Island of Tenerife could prove to be the perfect choice for bird lovers who are trying to decide where to go on holiday this year.
According to the Metro, the largest of the Canaries has seen a new nature attraction open, which could prove popular with fans of winged creatures.
The publication states that the opening of this attraction shows that Tenerife is much more than just a "sun and sand destination".
While Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz opened in 1972, it now has an aquarium, theme park, zoo and education facility that has been said to rival those in Florida and is "one of the most exciting wildlife sites in Europe".
One of its newest editions is a free-flight aviary, which contains an array of rare and exotic creatures, including the Spix's macaw - a bird that is now extinct in the wild and one of the rarest in the world.
Additionally, Island Connections recently suggested that tourists who want something a little different from their Tenerife holiday should go on a moonlight hike at the island's famed Teide volcano.
