An increasing number of Brits are taking part in adventurous activities while abroad, it has been revealed.
In a recent poll by esure, 88 per cent of Britons said they have taken part in activities such as paragliding while on holiday in the
Canary Islands and other destinations.
Of those surveyed, 13 per cent said they would still go ahead with an activity even if it would invalidate their travel insurance.
Mike Pickard, a spokesman for the company, said it is important that holidaymakers read their policies and find out what level of cover they have.
"Taking the plunge into raging white water instead of the hotel swimming pool considerably increases the risk of getting injured," he noted.
Mr Pickard added that having an accident could quickly turn a dream holiday into a nightmare - especially when the medical bills begin to mount up.
Speaking last month, Christian Young of the AA said many people rush their holiday bookings and buy travel insurance as an afterthought.
