Mount Teide in Tenerife

Whilst the UK suffered one of its coldest spells since records started over a century ago, the Canary Islands takes comfort in the news that they enjoyed one of the warmest Decembers for 50 years.

It was reported by the Met Office that temperatures averaged nearly 21°C in the coastal regions and even experienced highs of 31°C on two days in the month and were around 2°C higher than usual.  However, December also brought 4 days of heavy rain and 2 days of blustery winds.
