Children in Fuerteventura have taken to the streets on their bikes to celebrate keeping the stunning island green, on European Car Free Day.
The spectacular landscapes on
Fuerteventura are a sight to behold, which generations of travellers will hope are never affected by a carbon footprint of any kind.
So, to promote the use of renewable resources and a reduction in the number of cars on the road, 240 children cycled around
Puerto del Rosario, according to Sunny Fuerteventura.
On an island where the sun shines almost all the time, what better way to get around?
This is just one of many examples of the island taking the lead on green issues.
A windfarm, which will begin producing energy by the end of the year, is set to be completed at a desalination plant in
Corralejo this month, reported Sunny Fuerteventura this week.
It will generate almost double the energy needed by the plant, which means a surplus of energy from a renewable resource will be created.
