Air passenger demand for flights to places such as
Fuerteventura has grown for the first time in 12 months, according to new statistics.
The International Air Transport Association reports that traveller demand grew by 0.5 per cent in October, compared to the same month last year.
John Weber, senior vice president at OAG Aviation, says that this growth in revenue is "a very positive sign for the industry".
He goes on to state that the main objective is now to keep passenger increases ahead of seat growth for the impending winter months.
Mr Weber adds: "Stronger demand for seats and high load factors will have a positive impact on yields and revenues."
Demand for places on flights is now six per cent higher than the low point that was reached in March 2009.
According to recent research from Co-operative Travel, northern airports in the UK have seen a 49 per cent rise in winter bookings compared to last year.
