Culture vultures will be delighted to hear that government funds will be used to preserve three different areas of culture on the tiny island of Los Lobos.
It was decided by the bureau of procurement of the cabildo of
Fuerteventura that more than 200,000 (£182,000) will be invested into a rehabilitation project, reports Sunny Fuerteventura.
Natalia Evora, councillor for environment, clarified the extent of the investment.
She told the website: "There are a total of eight structures, wells and furnaces, plus the old salt mines, we want to preserve for the benefit of all visitors who come daily to the isle."
Jordani Cabrera, chair of the bureau of procurement, said to Sunny Fuerteventura that it is important to ensure that these places continue to exist, as they have succeeded in standing the test of time until now.
In other environmental news from the island, reforestation activity will soon begin in Morro Velosa in Betancuria, the former capital of Fuerteventura.
