British holidaymakers just cannot get enough of the sun-soaked island of
Fuerteventura, it has been claimed.
According to Canary Island News, holidaymakers are attracted to the island by its clean sandy beaches, warm climate and relaxed atmosphere.
"It is also known as La Isla Tranquilla. With its quiet and laid-back atmosphere, it is just the perfect getaway from the economic doom and gloom where, for a week or so at least, you can put aside your worries," the publication stated.
The island boasts over 55 kilometres of beaches and at just four hours away from the UK, it is the ideal option for holidaymakers who do not want to pay for a long-haul trip.
Meanwhile, Typically Spanish reported last week that
Lanzarote is also increasing in popularity as a holiday destination.
Figures released by island tourism officials revealed that the number of British people visiting
Lanzarote increased by six per cent during the first ten months of 2008, compared to the same period last year.
