Taking regular holidays to the
Canary Islands and other sunny destinations enables managers to relax and focus on their work more effectively, it has been suggested.
A recent poll carried out by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) revealed that 40 per cent of managers have not yet arranged a summer holiday.
Commenting on the findings, CMI spokesman Mike Petrook said holidays are "vital" and help to refresh your energy.
"If you don't take time off, there is so much evidence to suggest that people start making mistakes because they are tired and they haven't got the energy that they need," he explained.
The fear of redundancy is a factor for some workers when it comes to booking holidays, with many thinking that out of sight means out of mind, Mr Petrook added.
Of the managers surveyed by the CMI, 20 per cent admitted they find it difficult to let go of work, while 72 per cent said they worry about clients and deadlines when they are away.
