British Olympic heroine Rebecca Adlington is currently in Fuerteventura, it has been revealed.
However, it is not the 50 kilometres of golden sandy beaches that has brought her to the Canary Island, but the opportunity to train away from the glare of the media spotlight.
Adlington, who took home the gold at the Beijing Olympics in the 400m and 800m Freestyle events, has gone from being a relatively unknown face in the UK to become a celebrity - which has brought with it a number of publicity commitments.
However, this has interfered with her training, so her coach Bill Furness elected to base her at the ever-relaxing island of
Fuerteventura.
For those who prefer paddling in the sea to breaking world records in the pool, Fuerteventura is just as good an option.
The flat beaches of
Playas de Jandia and the rolling dunes of Carralejo are among the highlights of a destination famed for its beaches.
