Fans of classical music may wish to book a winter sun holiday to the
Canary Islands, where they can experience an array of musical talent that is set to play in
Las Palmas and
Tenerife in the new year.
The Canary Islands Festival will bring "the best of classical music to the Canaries" in concerts that will be held in the Tenerife Auditorium in
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as well as Las Palmas' Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Gran Canaria from January 8th to February 7th.
Previous musicians who have appeared at the festival have included the Gothemburg Symphony Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
The festival first took place in 1985's European Year of Music and has been an island tradition ever since.
According to the festival's website, the event was initially introduced with an aim of bringing an international status to the Canary Islands outside of the sun, sea and sand image of the area.
