A travel expert has commented that older parents are currently indulging in 5 star holidays across the world.
Chris Gallon, show director at The Luxury Travel Fair, which took place from November 5th to 8th at the London Olympia, pointed out that many parents have fewer financial outgoings, so are free to go on first-class trips.
He said: "A large part of our market is the growing leisure affluent married [travellers] who have retired, their children have left home, their mortgages are paid off."
Mr Gallon claimed that this does not stop these people from investing, since they can afford to both put money aside and splash out on a villa holiday in a natural spot of beauty such as
La Gomera.
In his view, although younger Brits may not be able to go on top-class trips, plenty of the older generations are doing it.
He stressed that it all depends on an individual's circumstances whether or not a dream holiday is affordable.
