People may be watching their spending due to the economic downturn, but once they jet overseas, many adopt a 'fun now pay later' approach, according to new research.
A study carried out by Lateroooms revealed that 47 per cent of holidaymakers throw caution to the wind where their finances are concerned.
Of those surveyed, 57 per cent said they spend more freely when using foreign currency.
Furthermore, 35 per cent of those who travel to popular destinations such as
Tenerife and
Lanzarote admitted they avoid checking exchange rates while abroad.
Jessica Reading, a spokesperson for the website, said: "Everyone needs a break from all the doom and gloom and our research shows that many people just want to get away and forget about their finances for a while."
Meanwhile, a poll carried out recently by Skyscanner revealed that the majority of parents would be willing to let their child miss school if it meant securing a cheap holiday deal.
