Lucky holidaymakers visiting
Las Palmas in Gran Canaria will be able to enjoy unrivalled views of the idyllic landscapes in the future, as its very own London Eye-like observation wheel should be under construction in the near future.
Officials have confirmed that the proposals for the wheel, which could provide a significant boost for tourism, have been well-received by many locals, Island Connections reports.
Authorities added that the attraction is likely to be up and running by the end of 2009 in the Santa Catalina area, providing the project does not come up against any technical issues.
As well as catering for holidaymakers seeking an impressive view of the area, the wheel will also provide a number of jobs in local area and raise the its profile in the same way that other wheels around the world have done, a council spokesperson added.
Similar attractions around the globe include the British Airways London Eye, which was opened in 2000 and is currently the world's largest observation wheel.
