Although
Lanzarote is known for its spectacular beaches and dive sites, there is more to the island than sand and sea, it has been claimed.
To highlight this fact, the Spanish government is investing nine million euros (£7.7 million) into its new Taste of Spain campaign.
The initiative aims to promote the country's cuisine and boost gastronomic tourism in destinations such as
Tenerife and Lanzarote.
In addition, the campaign will draw attention to the range of cultural and natural attractions on offer in Spain.
Those heading to Lanzarote this summer will certainly find no shortage of unique volcanic features and formations to explore.
As well as being home to the spectacular Timanfaya National Park, the island boasts the impressive Jameos del Agua cave complex, which was formed when the Corona Volcano erupted thousands of years ago.
The caves feature a natural auditorium, capable of seating 600 people, and an underwater lagoon.
