Jetting abroad and exposing your hair to the sun can be a one-way ticket to split ends and frizz.
However, freelance beauty writer Zara Rabinowicz says there are numerous precautions holidaymakers can take to ensure their locks remain in good condition.
Her top tip is to avoid colouring your hair before heading overseas, as the combination of sunlight, chlorine and seawater can cause dyes to fade.
"Aim to have your colour redone at least two weeks before you leave, so the hair isn't stripped and waiting to be damaged," she notes.
Ms Rabinowicz also recommends that travellers keep their barnets under control by using a protection spray and investing in a good-quality conditioning mask.
Those who still have cash left to splash after their holiday could consider investing in a salon treatment to help repair their hair, she furthered.
A survey carried out by Travelsupermarket recently revealed that 23 per cent of holidaymakers purchase toiletries such as shampoo and conditioner once they reach their destination in order to avoid excess baggage fees.
