A new survey has revealed that for most Brits, spending time with family members is the best thing about trips abroad.
Research carried out by Holiday Extras found that being with loved ones is a top priority for 42 per cent of holidaymakers.
However, for 35 per cent of people the best thing about jetting abroad to destinations such as the
Canary Islands is discovering new places, while 17 per cent claimed that their primary aim when on holiday is to relax and do nothing.
James Rye, a relationship expert at the site, said the distractions which usually keep people apart are temporally put aside when they are away from home.
"Holidays are a great opportunity for everyone to rediscover the people we live with who may somehow have got a little lost in the humdrum of life," he added.
Meanwhile, a recent study published by Santander Cards revealed that 84 per cent of Brits are planning to take a break abroad this year.
