Hotels that offer travellers great quality at affordable prices will be in the strongest position in what is a competitive market, according to an industry insider.
Del Brett, managing director of Future Inns, noted that travellers are becoming more price-conscious, whether they are going on backpacking trips or all-inclusive holidays to
Lanzarote.
He pointed out that hoteliers now have to find ways of offering added value to customers, because travellers now expect to get great deals wherever they go.
"It is a competitive market, but people are still travelling and those hoteliers who can offer customers quality at affordable prices are the ones who are most likely to win out," said Mr Brett.
Even though the situation may mean many hotels are finding less custom, he claimed that some places are seeing positive results, particularly those that can offer 5-star holidays at affordable prices.
Research released by Trivago last week indicated that the most expensive cities to stay in right now are Geneva, Venice and Stockholm.
