The rate of decline in people taking holidays to
Lanzarote reduced last month, suggesting that the effects of the credit crunch could be slowing down.
According to Shelter Offshore, the number of holidaymakers to the island could soon be on the up thanks to a number of initiatives including AENA, the Spanish airport operator, extending the decision to waiver airport taxes and charges for the entirety of 2010.
In addition to this, Ryanair has launched 16 new budget flight services from the UK to Lanzarote in the last month.
The number of visitors from Germany, the island's second largest tourism market, rose to 20,418 in October, compared with 19,912 in the same month last year.
Shelter Offshore states that the fundamentals on which Lanzarote's popularity are based remain solid as the island still expects to have received 1.2 million tourists this year, despite the global problems with the economy.
With an annual rainfall of just 5.5 inches, Lanzarote is an undeniably attractive prospect for year-round holidays.
