A marathon runner will head to the
Canary Islands in an attempt to set a brand-new world record.
Tristan Miller will travel the globe for 52 weeks, hoping to complete a marathon every week in a different country.
Along with the Canary Islands, the runner will visit destinations such as Dubai, South Africa, Siberia, Cuba and Mumbai in an attempt to be the first person who completes such a feat.
Mr Miller will travel to at least 42 countries around the world and begins his adventure on January 1st in a 42-kilometre race in Zurich, Switzerland.
The world record attempt is set to end in his home city of Melbourne, Australia and is costing the runner his entire life savings, as well as his apartment and car.
He adds that he is hoping to attract sponsors that will help him raise A$100,000 (nearly £55,000) for the charity Unicef.
The
Lanzarote marathon celebrated its 20th year in 2009, taking place in the island's capital
Arrecife.
