The Sunday Times Travel supplement this week reported that according to the Post Office's holiday spending barometer, Spain is the cheapest eurozone destination this summer and explained that the day-to-day holiday costs such as excursions, food shopping and eating out were now 30% lower than they were in 2009.
The reason for the drop in day-to-day costs would be party due to the pounds recent rally and also because of the determination of the Spanish to attract back the customer they lost to the eastern Mediterranean - such as Turkey.
Domingo Sanchez from Corona Holidays was also reported as saying "At the moment, we are concentrating on selling the stock we have, rather than increasing capacity", and admits that business has been slow this year leaving lots of availability in the Balearics and Canaries and gave an example of a week's self-catering for 4 people at the 3 star Primasud Apartments in Punta Prima, Menorca, from £359 per person including flights departing on the 24 July.
