Top surfers have praised the waves at La Santa,
Lanzarote, after competing in an event hosted by the island.
Patrick Gudauskas told the Daily Mail that the waves were "sick" after taking part in the Association of Surfing Professionals World Qualifying Series in November.
He went on to add: "I love coming here. I really like the waves."
Australian Drew Courtney, who won the competition, he told the publication that the surf was great and said of his achievement: "It's just amazing to win this major event and moreover in these waves."
Island locals have been known to compare the surfing conditions of Lanzarote to those of the renowned global surfers' paradise, Hawaii.
A record 538,000 people tuned in online to watch the competition and see what the waves of Lanzarote had to offer, while at the event there was reportedly a real carnival atmosphere.
Surfing Waves describes conditions on the island as five star.
