People in the UK are adamant that they will holiday abroad in destinations such as
Lanzarote in summer 2010, according to new research.
Thomas Cook has revealed that despite the current economic climate, there continues to be a strong growth in holidays to medium-haul destinations such as the
Canary Islands.
According to the Association of Independent Tour Operators (AITO), luxury travellers will also continue to travel abroad, regardless of economic issues.
Kate Kenward, executive director of AITO, said that there will always be a market for luxury travel.
She went on to say that financial protection is one of the most important things that people look for when it comes to their holiday fund.
Ms Kenward commented: "People are saving up for their holiday and they want to make sure that it will be delivered."
In a recent PricewaterhouseCoopers survey of more than 7,000 members of their luxury club, it was revealed that only 18 per cent of people would cut back on holidays in the recession, with people preferring to eradicate designer clothing or restaurant meals from their spending.
