Mallorca holiday traffic to increase by 10%
If you are planning a holiday to Mallorca this year, the choice of flights available should be increased during the summer months.

It was reported in the Mallorca Daily Bulletin that the Spanish Airports Authority [AENA] had received requests for an increase in schedules from airlines, which would mean an increase of 10% over the 2009 summer air traffic to 32 million. This announcement was made at an event organised by the Balearic Hotel Federation. Plans are also being made to increase capacity at the airport to 38 million passengers in 2015. 

Palma airport is due to open its new hub at the beginning of May this year, which is designed for passengers to connect from one flight to another meaning that Palma will not just be a final destination airport, but will attract people who wish to travel onto other European destinations and will use the airport as a stop-off.
 
Palma de Mallorca Airport – also known as Son Sant Joan Airport – is the 3rd largest airport in Spain, after Madrid and Barcelona.
