The humble paperback book has been named as the top travel must-have for British holidaymakers.
In a recent poll carried out by Skyscanner it was revealed that a holiday to
Tenerife and other destinations is not complete without a good book.
Of those polled, almost a quarter said it is their ultimate accessory, compared to 22 per cent who claimed that they cannot holiday without their mp3 player.
Rob Innes, head of marketing at the organisation, said books can also be exchanged with other travellers giving holidaymakers "entertainment currency".
"Its a low cost, no-tech form of entertainment that you can take anywhere from the beach to the bar. You dont need to worry about books getting lost, stolen or damaged, or that your battery will die mid-flight," he added.
Meanwhile, holidaymakers have been urged to protect their favourite items by taking out a good travel insurance policy before leaving the UK.
According to Holiday Extras, Brits should also ensure their policy covers them for cancellations, delays and redundancy.
