The majority of British holidaymakers are planning to holiday within the eurozone this year, it has been revealed.
Research carried out by currency exchange firm Travelex found that 45 per cent of Britons are planning to visit a destination within the eurozone such as
Lanzarote or
Tenerife.
Of those surveyed, just 17 per cent said they were planning to remain in the UK.
Results suggest that despite the credit crunch, Brits are not prepared to give up their holidays just yet.
However, spokesman Trevor Davis said people would be looking for better deals than usual this year to compensate for the strength of the euro against the pound.
Speaking earlier this week, Ignacio Vasallo, director of the Spanish Tourist Office in the UK, said the
Canary Islands represent excellent value for money for British holidaymakers.
