Brits are becoming increasingly savvy when it comes to buying their holiday money, it has been claimed.
Stephen Heath, chief executive of FairFX.com, said that with the euro still riding high against the pound, people are making a conscious effort to seek out the best deals.
According to FairFX, holidaymakers can save around nine per cent by changing their money online, rather than buying currency at the airport.
"We are having a record start to the year and it seems that more and more people are using the internet to deal with their travel money needs in advance, before they go away," Mr Heath commented.
Those taking holidays to destinations such as
Lanzarote and
Tenerife can also protect themselves by opting for a prepaid currency card instead of cash.
The cards have a secure chip and pin system and can be cancelled if stolen.
