The
Canary Islands will always be a popular destination for British holidaymakers, it has been claimed.
Speaking today (November 14th), Ignacio Vasallo, director of the Spanish Tourist Office, said the islands were popular due to their accessibility, range of attractions and year-round warm weather.
"The
Canary Islands have a special place in the hearts of British holidaymakers, as so many millions have visited the easily accessible islands over the past three decades," he commented.
Although the larger islands of
Tenerife,
Lanzarote and
Gran Canaria have long been popular, Mr Vasallo said that holidaymakers were now beginning to discover hidden gems such as
La Gomera and
El Hierro.
Situated off the east coast of Africa, the
Canary Islands enjoy year-round warm temperatures and are home to four of Spain's major nature reserves.
