Those jetting off to the
Canary Islands this summer may wish to engage in a spot of whale and dolphin-watching.
According to Island Connections, more than 28 different species of the animals have been spotted off the coast of
Tenerife in recent years, including pilot whales and bottle-nosed dolphins.
Excursions start from around 25 euros (£21.82) per person and depart from various ports, including Puerto Colon,
Los Cristianos and
Los Gigantes.
"Most of the boats will have a guide on board who will talk you through the trip (in two or three languages) and tell you about the whales and dolphins you are seeing along the way," the publication noted.
Trips last from two to five hours and, according to Island Connections, many visit the cliffs of Los Gigantes and the stunning Masca coast.
In related news, nature lovers may be interested to learn that a rescued loggerhead turtle was released back into the wild on the Playa Jardin beach in Punta Brava earlier this week.
