If you're looking to escape the stress and strain of everyday life and soak up the sun in tranquil surroundings, then look no further than
Tenerife.
Writing in the Telegraph this week, Louise Rodden claimed that
Tenerife's north coast was home to several spectacular bays and beaches and offered visitors a chance to experience traditional
Tenerife.
Around an hour's drive from the sandy stretches of
Los Cristianos and
Playa de las Americas, the north coast is home to pretty villages, rolling hills and rugged "surf-bashed" bays.
According to Ms Rodden, the mountain ridges to the north are the place "where wind-buffeted miradors provide hazy Atlantic views, and snaky roads lead down to
Tenerifes impressive former capital, San Cristobal de
La Laguna".
As the largest of the
Canary Islands,
Tenerife is home to many natural attractions, such as the famous Teide Volcano, which rises some 3,718 metres above the island.
