The port town of
Santa Cruz de Tenerife is expecting a huge quantity of visitors today as several cruise liners stop in for a day trip.
Cruise trips have become increasingly popular recently according to a statement by Abta - The Travel Association, with this fact being proved by the number of travellers expected to arrive in Tenerife today.
According to Island Connections, about 8,000 people will be getting to the island on cruise ships.
It reported that the Aida Bella, the Aida Luna and the Independence of the Sea are all docking in to the port, with the latter alone carrying 4,000 passengers and 1,300 crew.
"Between today and the end of the month, 28 cruise liner stopovers are scheduled for the port," claimed the website.
A recent study by the Passenger Shipping Association indicated that one in every 12 package holidays booked is for a cruise ship.
Sean Tipton, from Abta - The Travel Association, suggested that this popularity may be down to more people using the equity in their houses to go on holiday.
