Despite having the recession to contend with, people are still eager to take holidays to
Tenerife and other popular destinations, it has been suggested.
Sharron Livingston, editor of online publication The Travel Magazine, suggested that Brits are still taking regular breaks abroad, with many viewing their holidays as sacred.
"The British are renowned as being keen travellers especially if the price is right," she explained.
According to Ms Livingsone, it is "no surprise" that people have not been deterred from taking their annual holidays.
However, she noted that instead of making impulse bookings, travellers are keeping their eyes peeled for bargains.
In related news, a recent survey carried out by Travelzoo found that the majority of British people are not concerned by the threat of swine flu.
The poll revealed that those in the north-west of England are the least worried, with just five per cent planning to adapt their travel plans to take the threat into consideration.
