US cyclist Lance Armstrong is due to arrive in
Tenerife on Sunday to participate in team training on Mount Teide.
Armstrong, who has won the Tour de France seven times, is travelling to the
Canary Islands with the rest of the Astana team, News in the Sun reports.
The 37-year-old has come out of retirement and will join his Spanish team mate Alberto Contador to train.
With its unique landscape, Teide National Park is an obvious choice for the team. At 3,718 metres tall, Mount Teide is also a popular destination with walkers and mountaineers.
A vast wilderness, the park is home to some of the world's rarest flora and fauna and is a must-visit destination for anyone travelling to
Tenerife.
In other news, it was reported earlier this week that legendary crooner Rod Stewart may be planning a
Tenerife gig for next May.
