Tenerife's newest visitor attraction,
Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, has officially opened its doors and, according to reports, the centre has got off to a "fantastic" start.
The centre attracted 10,500 visitors in the space of one weekend and the centre looks set to become one of the island's busiest attractions.
Home to a number of permanent exhibitions and a library, the centre has been designed to complement its surroundings and blend in with the old quarter of Santa Cruz,
Tenerife News reports.
Holidaymakers visiting the centre can see photographs of the island and view the work of
Tenerife painter Oscar Dominguez. A number of temporary exhibitions will also be on display until January 2009.
Aside from the newly opened arts centre,
Tenerife is home to several other cultural attractions including Teide National Park, the pyramids of
Guimar and the Villa de
la Orotava.
