
An exhibition featuring the work of surrealist painter Roland Penrose is set to open in
Tenerife next year.
The collection of work, which is currently on display in Malaga, will move to the
Tenerife Espacio de las Artes in February 2009 and remain there until May 24th.
One of the UK's first surrealist painters, Penrose was born in 1900 and became a good friend of Picasso, even going on to write his biography.
Those visiting the exhibition in
Tenerife will have the opportunity to see a number of previously unseen paintings, including 'The Sugar Factory', 'Valentine with Cat' and 'Conquest of the Air'.
A number of the painter's early work and a collection of drawings and photographs will also go on show,
Tenerife News reports.
The largest of the
Canary Islands,
Tenerife is home to numerous cultural attractions such as Loro Parque and Pueblo Chico a park featuring miniature models from around the Canaries.
