Visitors to the popular
Tenerife resort of
Puerto de la Cruz can now keep themselves in shape while enjoying the Canary Island sun.
A new initiative is to transform parts of the resort into a hive of wellbeing, making it the largest outdoor gym in Europe, Tenerife News reports.
Called the DOD - which stands for Deporte, Ocio y Diversion (Sports, Leisure and Fun) - the programme will see Taoro Park and the beaches come alive with activity.
Residents and visitors alike will be able to take part in classes ranging from yoga to flamenco, ensuring there should be something to suit all ages and abilities.
Puerto de la Cruz is the largest resort on the north of the island, having started life as a fishing village before eventually developing into a cargo port.
The coastline on the north of the island can be rocky and dangerous, but there are many newly developed beaches, such as the popular Lido complex.
