One of
Tenerife's newest and most interesting attractions is the lake that can be found in Plaza de Espana in the capital of Santa Cruz.
As tempting though it may be, taking a dip in the lake is officially forbidden. However, that ban could be lifted if one of the island's top football teams gives the city something to celebrate this summer.
Club Deportivo (CD) Tenerife are currently pushing for promotion from the second division. Mayor Miguel Zerolo has said that if they are successful, the rules on swimming in the lake will be waived, Tenerife News reports.
He added that relaxing the law would allow fans to "express their happiness at the important news of CD Tenerife's promotion".
As well as providing one of the most picturesque areas of Santa Cruz, Plaza de Espana is located close to many of the city's main attractions, such as the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion.
