
The programme of events for this year's Puerto Carnival in Tenerife has been unveiled.
Commencing on February 8th, the festival features an action-packed line-up, with everything from parades to musical performances,
Tenerife News reports.
The theme for this year's festival is Africa and festivities get underway at 8pm at the Plaza de Viera y Clavijo.
Highlights of the festival include the election of the children's carnival queen on February 15th, dancing at the Plaza del Charco and an adult's fancy dress competition.
The traditional Burial of the Sardine takes place in February 25th, with locals parading the fish through Calle Valois, Calle Blanco, Calle La Marina and the fishing port.
Dozens of other carnivals are scheduled to take place in the
Canary Islands throughout the month of February, including
Gran Canaria's
Las Palmas Carnival and
La Orotava Carnival.
