There are three new zones which have now been included by Turismo de Tenerife under which funding is released to upgrade and modernise existing tourist areas. These are Arona, Adeje and Puerto de la Cruz and will see an investment of over 4 million euros towards their improvement.
In Arona up to 645,000 euros will be spent improving and upgrading the parking and plaza located in from of the commercial centre, along the busy Avenida Rafael Puig beside the La Siesta Hotel.
In Adeje, the Avenida de Los Pueblos is the main area where it is planned to convert the zone into a commercial axis and attract new businesses into the area as well as creating an attractive pedestrianised zone. This work should cost up to 1.8 million euros.
In Puerto de la Cruz, the work will be concentrated along the San Telmo pedestrianised zone from Plaza Reyes Catolicos up to the Calle Santo Domingo.
The overall plan spans the 2007-2013 time frame and the plan seeks to improve areas in all the designated tourist boroughs including beaches, walkways, green belt areas and main streets and motoway links.
