Tenerife's beaches look set to get even better over the coming year, with island authorities planning to spend millions of pounds on improvements.
Officials are planning to revamp the coastal area between
Los Cristianos and
La Caleta, with work already underway in some places.
Sand recovery work is already being carried out and regeneration work is underway on the Playa de La Enramada in Adeje,
Tenerife News reports.
Tourism councillor Jose Manuel Bermudez said that maintaining the island's spectacular coastal areas was a "priority objective".
Other improvements have also been planned for elsewhere on the island, including an extension to the Avenida Rafael Puig.
Speaking last week, Ignacio Vasallo, director of the Spanish Tourist Office, said that the
Canary Islands would always have a place in the heart of British holidaymakers and added that as well as travelling to
Tenerife, holidaymakers were now beginning to discover the smaller islands of
La Gomera and
El Hierro.
