The sun-soaked island of
Tenerife has been named as a top destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Speaking on behalf of Skyscanner, water sports expert Gareth Bayley said
El Medano in Tenerife is a "paradise" for those who enjoy water-based activities.
"The wind is strongest and most reliable in summer, but the wind stats are pretty good all year round, thanks to a north-east trade wind strengthened further by a thermal effect," he noted.
Those interested in learning with the help of a qualified instructor will find several kitesurfing and windsurfing schools on the beach, Mr Bayley added.
Fuerteventura has also been named as an excellent destination for water sports enthusiasts.
Sotavento beach was described as a particularly good place for beginners to learn the ropes due to its pleasant lagoon and reliable winds.
Meanwhile, those interested in trying their hand at some free water and beach-based activities may be interested to learn that Aguaviva Canarias gets underway on August 22nd in Tenerife.
The festival aims to promote the underwater world and features dozens of workshops and activities, including free dive taster sessions.
