People booking their luxury holidays in Tenerife may be interested to hear that a tourism chief has called for resorts to continue to surprise British travellers.
Jose Manuel Bermudez made his comments at the World Travel Market in London, where the
Canary Islands won the award for the best stand.
Mr Bermudez described British people who choose to spend their 5 star holidays on the island as "loyal customers" and claimed it is essential to keep surprising them to ensure they visit again.
Meanwhile, president of
Tenerife Ricardo Melchior told journalists soon afterwards that the island has pioneered bio-climatism and that he is committed to reducing energy consumption.
"Almost 50 per cent of the island is protected natural areas, of which 50 per cent is forest land," he added.
This week, residents of Santiago del Teide on Tenerife celebrated 100 years since the Chinyero peak erupted.
