Authorities in Tenerife are planning to invest millions in revamping some of the most popular tourist areas.
According to News in the Sun, four resorts, including Adeje and Arona, will receive 67 million euros over the next four years.
The island's minister for tourism, Manuel Bermudez, said the money would be used to modernise
Tenerife's infrastructure and help to ensure that it remains a leading tourist destination.
It is thought that beaches will be improved, as well as road networks and walkways.
"Beside upgrading the tourist areas, the planned improvements will create around 1,000 much-needed jobs over the next three to four years", the newspaper said.
Meanwhile, Brits jetting off to eurozone destinations such as
Lanzarote, Tenerife and
Gran Canaria this year have been advised to check that their European Health Insurance Cards are in date before travelling.
