The number of foreign visitors taking holidays in
Tenerife has remained
steady, despite the economic downturn.
Over 3.3 million foreign holidaymakers visited the island over the last
year, representing just a 1.4 per cent decrease on last year's figures,
News in the Sun reports.
Despite the slight decrease, Canary Island tourism chief Rita Martin
said the
Canary Islands had remained more popular than many other
regions.
In related news, it was reported earlier this week that authorities in
Tenerife are planning to invest a substantial amount of money in
improving facilities and attracting new visitors.
Plans have been proposed to construct a new theme park on the
island and to create a new light rail network connecting
Tenerife's
capital with the tourist resorts in the south.
