A multi-million pound project to create a new railway line in Tenerife will begin next year.
The 80-kilometre line is expected to take around seven years to complete, News in the Sun reports.
A number of new stations will be created along the line, which will run from
Los Cristianos to Santa Cruz.
"At some future date the plan is to extend the line further to service the planned port at Fonsalia on the island's west coast," the news provider noted.
It is also expected that a station will be built at
Tenerife's south airport, with authorities anticipating that 30,000 people will use the railway line each day.
Meanwhile, island authorities have announced plans to invest 67 million euros in improving four of Tenerife's most popular holiday resorts.
The money will be used to modernise infrastructure and improve walkways and beaches.
