Housed in the same building as the harbour authority, the Museu Maritimo contains model ships - from 15th century caravels to modern naval gunships, as well as a collection of colourful shells and models explaining the techniques of the fishing industry.
In contrast with today's high-tech factory ships, with sonar devices and sweep nets, the sardine and tuna boats shown here seem charmingly antiquated.
