The Marine Life Museum is located in the town hall and was opened in 1992 to display the marine life of Cyprus. It is the first natural museum of its kind in Cyprus and exhibits include a vast number of fossils, some which date back to 220 million years ago. The museum also has a large collection of shells found in local waters, as well as starfish, sea urchins, birdlife and corals. There are also exhibits relating to the sea turtles for which Cyprus is famous.
Every specimen whether it be plant or animal was removed from its natural habitat after death.
