Protaras Holidays - Beaches in Protaras:In summer, the great attraction of Protaras is its coastline with fine white sand beaches, natural rocky coves and crystal clear waters. Some areas along the coast do have shingle and flat rocks at the water’s edge, however this does not stop visitors enjoying the variety of water sports on offer, or to go for a cruise on one of the local pleasure boats. There are plenty of sunbeds and parasols for hire to enable you relax and soak up the sun. The offshore islet offers the chance of some small degree of seclusion although you have to be a fairly strong swimmer to reach it.
Further north are more beaches including Pernera, Minas and Agia Triada with a small church situated in a coastal cove. Near the latter, close to the roundabout on the road to Paralimni, is an Aquarium where you can see crocodiles, penguins, fish and other marine creatures and is open daily from 10:00 to dusk.
The area is dominated by a rocky hill with the picturesque chapel of Prophitis Elias affording a magnificent panoramic view of Protaras and nearby Varosha [or Famagusta].
